Hollow [small alpha]-Fe2O3 hexagonal nanocolumn particles (HHCPs) with exposed {10[1 with combining macron]0} and {11[2 with combining macron]5} facets have been prepared through a hydrothermal method. They exhibited high gas sensing capacity.
